Borneo

Let me begin with saying that I was a terrible photographer on our trip to Borneo/Malaysia last week... but maybe that means I was a good relaxer? Ha. If you have kids, you know full well the word relax and kid have no business being in the same sentence. If you plan to have kids, take this to know you will not relax... for years... but parenthood is great.

In all honesty, the girls travel very well. They were great on the trip, but they are still kids. Borneo is an amazing place and one that I hope to see again with older kids (or kidless). I can truly imagine that one could get fully and completely lost just 10 feet from a road. The jungle there is immense and pristine. The ocean there is immense and pristine. We really never saw much of either. We did see a lot of hotel rooms and pools and malls.

We spent most of our time in Kota Kinabalu, on the island of Borneo in the state of Sabah. We had a lot of pool and beach time and plenty of naps. Our 3 days in Kuala Lumpur were spent eating, shopping and seeing the aquarium and zoo. Chris and Ceiba had a day at the zoo alone, as with the heat, Avocet and I opted for a long nap and packing. The zoo hasn't been updated since the 60s, but still filled an afternoon for them. We all had a good vacation!
