Each year, the International school hosts an evening International Night. It is one of the biggest events, with each table filled with various country's foods and treats. We all pitch in, cook and volunteer at the stands.
Last year, I made apple pies. They were a hit, but it was suggested to try easier to feed options this year. So I took the tried and true recipe, but made tiny tart shells and filled them with apple pie filling, topped with crumb topping. New FAVORITE!!! We will forget that making about 150 said tarts (plus an apple cake for Chris's bday... the same night... sorry honey) took me about 6 hours. Yes, we'll forget that part.
Our stand was a hit, maybe in part because of awesome Ruben, who was yelling out "get your hot dogs, get your fresh popcorn!" and more like a stair hiking baseball vendor. But the fact that we had American pies, NC mouth watering BBQ, hot wings, popcorn, California rolls, jalapeno poppers, brownies, M&Ms, hot dogs, pimento cheese spread, goldfish crackers and more probably had a little something to do with it.
Regardless, we had a GREAT time sharing a little bit of America from the other side of the pond.
