We stayed at the Hotel Villa Belvedere in Taormina, built in 1902. The location was excellent to just park your car (watch they don't lose your keys... we were delayed 45 minutes by a "misplaced" key) and explore old Taormina. The hotel was honestly wonderful, big rooms with an amazing sea view. The place is full of character and the staff was great! The pool was already too cold in October, but the sun still felt warm as we had lunches beside the pool. And the breakfast spread is perfectly Mediterranean and fresh.
Taormina was as beautiful as we had heard from many friends, our favorite spot in Sicily to date. The town is perched high on a hillside, Mt. Etna behind and the Mediterranean glistening below. The cobble streets pull you through town, past charming restaurants, art galore and the town just offers a wide array of options to explore.
You'll see a pattern of gelato, food, citrus and stone. I smile and cry to watch the girls grow up so much in every photo. We know how invaluable the experiences and fun of trips can be, but don't put it all together until we get home and I go through photos. But back to Taormina... we completely loved it!!!
